In the doldrums of the early 1990s, motorcycle manufacturers were licking their financial wounds, and one solution from Suzuki was a “bitsa” model made up from bits of their premier sport bike and full-boat tourer along with some fresh sheet metal and old-school tube frame. Hence was born the naked standard GSX1100G.
Produced from 1991-94, the big sport tourer featured a version of Suzuki’s very successful oil- and air-cooled 16-valve inline four cylinder found in the GSX-R1100, counterbalanced and detuned for real-world street duties. The “G” designation meant this bike was equipped with a shaft drive and featured a longish wheelbase and relaxed steering geometry. Optional, though aesthetically challenged, fairings were available for those in it for the long haul. This was a heavy and stable platform capable of both distance and speed, and reliable to boot. Our feature bike shows only 8,300 miles and looks to be very well-preserved wearing its original black livery and optional passenger seat backrest. Our seller makes no mention of the aftermarket 4-into-1 exhaust system, and the grips and mirrors appear to be glitzy add-ons also.
