Sites like BikeEXIF are constantly saying that the Honda CX650 has become a new darling of the custom motorcycle world. Here’s something a little bit different using thatsame powerplant. Built with 136 ft of 1 inch square tubing and 3 sheets of 6061T6 aircraft alloy, this cool build is reminiscent of a Morgan 3 Wheeler.
The builder is a Bike-urious reader, who told me that he loosely copied a BRA Motor Works kit that one of his friends had put together – but he made it his way. At the time, he was an airframe mechanic. The CX650 engine is paired with a driveshaft to a GL1100 rear end. Claimed top speed is about 105 miles per hour but it will do 45-50 mpg if you cruise at 75 miles per hour. The rig has a 7 gallon fuel tank and it weighs approximately 900 pounds. Other components include Ford Cortina MK4 hubs and brake. The January 2002 issue of Cycle Canada featured this bike in a three page spread. The odometer shows just over 40,000 miles.
