I’m using Thanksgiving break to catch up on some stories that I’ve let slip! Did you see my recap from the Quail? Good – now here’s a picture gallery from this year’s Handbuilt Motorcycle Show.
Black Friday Intermission – RADwood SoCal Motorcycle Tickets
RADwood is coming to Southern California (specifically Orange County) on December 7th, and they want to see more rad 80s-90s motorcycles. On Black Friday, they’ll be running a sale for FREE motorcycle/scooter/moped entries – so what are you waiting for?
Video Intermission – Hub Center Steering Explanation
You may remember that the baby Vyrus I featured a few months ago eventually found a home at Iconic Motorbikes, with whom I’ve partnered to start an auction site. We recently let the Vyrus go up for bidding, and the winner is already putting it to good use!
Picture Intermission – Vintage Motorcycles at the 2019 Long Beach IMS
View PostGear Intermission – Rueben McMurter’s Rothmans Honda Helmet and Suit
Let’s mix it up with a set of leathers and helmet instead of a bike. The seller of this combo is trying to fund a bike project, so he’s selling this gear duo from Rueben McMurter, the Canadian Superbike racer who campaigned on a Rothmans Honda.
Video Intermission – Wayne Rainey Rides Again
I’m not crying…you’re crying.
Gift Intermission – Mat Oxley’s Stealing Speed (Now Illustrated)
One of my favorite motorcycling books ever is Mat Oxley’s Stealing Speed. It’s always been an easy recommendation, but now it’s even easier as Mat has released a new version with artwork by Christian Papazoglakis!
Contest Intermission – RevZilla/MotoQuest Adventure
Two years ago, Spurgeon from RevZilla and I took a couple of BMW boxer adventure bikes from Los Angeles to Cabo for MotoQuest. If you read that story (Part 1, Part 2) and wanted to do it yourself, you may just be in luck! RevZilla and MotoQuest are partnering up to give you and a friend a week long trip …
Picture Intermission – 2019 Los Angeles Ride for Kids
It’s been a few years since I went to Ride for Kids, but I stopped by this year because Honda’s partnering with my new auction site to sell a couple of donated motorcycles – all the proceeds will go straight to Ride for Kids! Here are some of my favorite images from the day.
Picture Intermission – My Favorite Bike at Ride for Kids!
Today is the LA running of Ride for Kids, so I went to announce some news (more on that later) and support the cause! There were lots of great motorcycles, including a staggering amount of minibikes like Groms and Monkeys. But my favorite bike is a bit of an oddball. Can you identify it at first glance?
Giveaway Intermission – Oil in the Blood
To celebrate the release of Oil in the Blood next week, the director (Gareth Maxwell Roberts) has arranged a giveaway with some popular names in motorcycling gear. There are seven prizes for seven different winners with a total value of about $3,700.
Story Intermission – An Interview on RevZilla’s Common Tread
A couple of years ago, I had my first story published on RevZilla’s Common Tread. I was excited enough to have my work featured on the site, but I never thought I would be the subject of a piece on the site that I respected so much. That recently changed, as they asked me a few questions about the new …
Art Exhibit Intermission – Art on Two Wheels in South Yarmouth, MA
Following up last week’s exhibit intermission, now we’ve got a museum on the east coast that’s showing off some motorcycles. Now through November 24th, the Cultural Center of Cape Cod is hosting Art on Two Wheels, a “retrospective exhibition of Harley-Davidson motorcycle,s artwork, and artifacts.”
Video Intermission – Ichiban Moto – How to Rebuild Shocks
It’s been a few months since Ichiban Moto has released a how-to-video, so I’m excited to share his newest one. These are always good for several laughs – I don’t understand how he thinks of these things!
Video Intermission – Petrolicious – 1969 Ducati: The Duchess of Speed
Petrolicious’ new video is about Marja Elisat, a student who races a classic Ducati 350 on the weekends. It’s an awesome father-daughter story that’s worth watching as “it’s uncommon for young people to participate in motorsport at all, less so for girls, and very much less so for girls who can drop a knee on a bike twice their age.”
