This past weekend, Team Obsolete exhibited a whole bunch of their bikes at Lime Rock Park Speedway. Jeff Z. of Moto Bellissima was there to check it out and took some great shots.
Picture Intermission – Mini Ducati Supersport
Back in February when I profiled reader Ted Clough, he noted that he was working on a 1966 Monza that he was going to convert into a special. Well, I just found out what the result was and I thought it was worth sharing – meet the mini Ducati Supersport!

View PostVideo Intermission – Doug Danger Clears 22 Cars
Earlier this month, Doug Danger attempted to clear 22 cars (width-wise) in one jump, something that Evel Knievel tried and failed. Danger said that if he didn’t clear the jump properly, he’d die. Seeing as he’s still around, you can probably guess how this went.
Video Intermission – Being Evel Trailer
“I didn’t think of Evel Knievel as a daredevil, I thought of him as a superhero.” – Johnny Knoxville, producer of Being Evel, a recently released documentary. Check out the trailer: As Knoxville puts it at the end, “It’s just fast, faster, and disaster!”
Text Intermission – Geoff Drake
Formerly an editor for VeloNews and Bicycling magazines, Geoff Drake has been published in plenty of national magazines. He’s clearly a talented writer and it’s worth a moment of your time to check out some of his pieces.
Video Intermission – Motorcycles for the Handicapped
This is a brief video, but it’s worth a watch. Catur Bambang is a mechanic who lost his legs in a work accident. Video Intermission – RC Motorcycles
It’s taken a while, but I think I’ve finally found the perfect motorcycle for the Baja quest – the MX 400. Coil springs up front, oil dampers in the rear, sticky rubber on both wheels, hardened steel chain…oh yeah, and it’s radio controlled.
Video Intermission – Hitting the Apex Trailer
Did you know that someone’s making a MotoGP documentary that’ll be shown in cinemas (at least in England)? Called Hitting the Apex, it follows six riders (tragically including Simoncelli) over the last several years, and it’s a rare opportunity for us to see our favorite mode of transportation on the big screen.

View PostVideo Intermission – Blazer
A couple of days ago I featured a BSA B25SS for sale, and facebook commenter David B noted that there was ‘a way cool short film featuring the brother of this bike’ – the Triumph Trailblazer. He said it was worth a watch, and after checking it out for myself, I’d have to agree. Enjoy…I suspect many of you have …
Picture Intermission – Vintage Motorcycle Daze
This weekend was the 5th annual Vintage Motorcycle Daze, a bike show for motorcycles produced in 1989 and earlier. Walter Barlow was kind enough to share some photos from his time there.

View PostVideo Intermission – Wooden Trike
Istvan Puskas, a Hungarian tractor driver, has made a name for himself by creating vehicles out of wood, including a bicycle and a motorcycled powered by a 200cc engine. Here’s his most recent work, a trike built entirely from pine (with handlebars from cattle horns). The trike took 6 months to build and can hit about 12 miles per hour.
