The fine folks over at Motorcycle.com recently shared a profile on FCR Originals, a French custom motorcycle shop that loves building beauties out of classic English twins. This is the “Green Legend”, a custom Bonneville built as a tribute to the enduro that Steve McQueen used in the famous scene in The Great Escape.
In Canada – Colorado Norton Works #82
4-14-20 Update: A year and a half later, this beautiful custom Commando is still up for sale – but the price is almost 50% off. It looks like nothing else has changed but the price, which is down from 40k to 25k Canadian dollars (currently about $18,012 USD). Find it still on sale here at Robin’s Classic Motorcycles in Parksville, …
1966 Triumph T100C
Post Sale Update: This T100C sold for $6,200 after 101 bids on eBay in Gainesboro, Tennessee. Depending on who you talk to, the ’66 T100C was also called a T100SC or even the “Jack Pine” special after success in the Jack Pine Enduro. Whatever you call it, it’s a sweet motorcycle. This one’s even sweeter in my eyes as it …
1 of 122 – 1970 Indian Velo 500
View PostNo Reserve – 1973 Norton Commando 850
Post Listing Update: Initially, this Commando sold for $11,100 after 14 bids on eBay, however it was relisted due to a non-paying bidder. The seller then pulled this bike off of eBay, final sale price unknown. Back on the market after some time in a climate-controlled private collection, this Norton Commando looks to be well-preserved.
1951 Sunbeam S7 Deluxe
After WWII, as part of reparations, BMW gave up its designs of the BMW R75. Bikes like Chang Jiang and Ural used these designs, but England’s take was the Sunbeam S7. You can see the BMW influence when you look at a side profile, but Sunbeam wanted to differentiate themselves by utilizing a inline vertical twin instead of the German …
1976 Triumph Bonneville 750 Street Tracker
Post Listing Update: This custom Bonnie did not meet reserve despite 31 bids up to $11,100 in Altadena, California. Whether or not you’re interested in Barry Weiss from Storage Wars, this is an interesting take on a Bonnie Street Tracker.
1972 Kenny Dreer Norton VR880 Commando Sprint Special
Post Listing Update: This VR880 did not meet reserve despite 23 bids up to $23,100 on eBay in East Meadow, New York. Yet again, Norton Motorcycles is in trouble. But instead of focusing on the negative, let’s go back in history to a time when someone was trying to save the name. That someone was Kenny Dreer, who started restoring …

A 500cc scrambler, the Ariel HS was a competition version of the Red Hunter. 1 of 700 – 1961 Velocette Viceroy
Post Listing Update: This Viceroy did not get any interest at the opening bid of $12,500. One of Velocette’s least-known creations is a scooter called the Viceroy. It made sense in theory but sales were poor and production ended after just 700 were sold over 4 years (1960-1964). Obviously, they’re now hard to find, especially in the US.
No Reserve – 1975 Triumph Trident T160 Project
Post Sale Update: This Trident sold for $4,427 after 34 bids on eBay. Per the seller, this numbers-matching Trident (VIN: T160DK03766) was found sitting in a private collection. It kicks over so he’s listing it as a “non-running project”, and there’s plenty of photos for you to verify the cosmetic condition with. This could be a fun and relatively quick …
2 Miles – 1975 Norton Commando Interstate
Post Listing Update: This Commando Interstate was pulled off of eBay “due to an error in the listing.” As you might be able to tell from the name, the Interstate was a Commando variant which was designed to increase comfort for longer journeys with a 5 gallon tank and a bigger seat. This one hasn’t really served its intended purpose, …
1964 Royal Enfield Interceptor 750
Royal Enfield used to have the rights to one of the best names in motorcycling – Interceptor. Unfortunately, they eventually lost it to Honda, so they have to call their new twin the “INT650”.
2013 Triumph Tiger Explorer XC
Jeff Pamer: The Tiger moniker has been used by Triumph for a very long time, and its history is a bit convoluted. The vast differences in bikes that have held the Tiger name make it a hard line to follow. Not only is the current Tiger vastly different from the original bike that held the name in in 1936, the …
