Over the last 15 years, the seller of this GS has tried to turn it “into one of the best and most unique street biased PD’s in terms of performance and aesthetics.” It’s definitely unique – I can’t say I’ve ever seen Buco saddlebags on a GS before.
Fully Restored – 1960 BMW R60/2
Here’s a first-year example of the 30 horsepower R60/2 that’s been fully restored by some noted experts in the world of classic BMWs. For more information on the slash 2, check out this page on Jeff Dean’s BMW-focused web site.
3 Interesting Projects in Michigan
A seller in Michigan has three cool bikes, all of which have no known history and weren’t stored particularly well. Still, these motorcycles are quirky enough that someone will want to snap them up! We’ve got a Harley-Davidson Z90, an Indian ME-100, and a MZ Trophy ES250/2 – let’s get into more details, in order of how much work they’re …
1956 BMW R26
2-26 Update: After not getting any action at $8,000 the first time around, this R26 is back up for sale with bidding up to $5,300 and the reserve not yet met or a BIN of $7,300 here on eBay. Introduced in 1956 (and out of the market in 1960), the R26 was a significant revision of the R25, with upgrades …
Nice Price – 1988 BMW R100GS
I feature plenty of GSes, but I can’t remember the last time I saw a running, relatively low mileage 100GS for sale for less than $5k – especially in a big city.
In Canada – 1989 BMW K100RS Special Edition
The BMW K100RS SE, or Special Edition, was a limited run of the K100RS that featured a lovely blue and white paint job, hand drawn pin stripes, and color-matched hard luggage. It’s also famous for being the motorcycle that introduced ABS to the market.
Bitsa BMW – 1970 BMW R90
The seller of this BMW calls it a R90/5 – which was not an official model from the BMW factory. He has bestowed that name on this bike because it has a R90/6 engine transplanted into the R60/5 frame. That’s just one of many modifications that makes this bike a ‘bitsa’.
Ending Soon – 2007 BMW R1200S
When it was released, the R1200S was BMW’s sportiest-ever take on the boxer engine. Whereas the R11S was almost a 50/50 balance of sport and touring, the R12S was marketed much more towards the former with slogans like “born in heaven, raised in hell”. When it was first announced, BMW didn’t even offer factory luggage as an option, though that …
600cc – 1966 BMW R50/2
Here’s a ‘well-sorted rider’ example of BMW’s R50/2 – but this one’s been rebuilt to displace 600ccs.
1953 Göricke Gö 100 S
Based out of Bielefeld, Germany, Göricke was founded as a bicycle manufacturer in 1874. They started producing motorcycles in 1903 and were acquired by Panther in 1964. Between those years they produced a variety of motorcycles, including this Gö 100 S, which is powered by a Sachs motor.
Turbo Tourer – 1985 BMW K100RT
Now you can tell people the “T” in RT stands for Turbo. Unfortunately, this bike needs a new clutch – but the asking price is less than what the turbo must have cost to put on, so I’m thinking this is an excellent winter project for someone in New England.
1988 BMW R100RS Cafe Racer
Built by Joe DeMoss of Euro Cycles of Tampa Bay, this RS was built into a cafe racer over a nine month build. How do you think it turned out?
1978 BMW R100S
I have an R90/6 that I’ve been putting a lot of miles on lately. The other night I was walking out to my bike from a pizza place in a shopping center and a drunk 25-year-old came running out of a TGI Fridays yelling at me. I have a soft spot in my heart for immature drunk guys in their …
1990 BMW R100GS
A long time Bike-urious reader has sourced a lovely Bimota SB8R, which means one of his bikes has got to go. Looks like he’s cutting off this well-modded R100GS.
Euro Model – 1984 BMW R100RS
The BMW R100RS has established itself as one of the best classic touring bikes ever made. Here’s one that stands out in the states because it’s a Euro model that was originally sold in Bahrain. The original owner brought the bike with him as he moved to England and then Phoenix, Arizona. Now it’s with a new owner who’s had …
