1985 BMW K100RS

In Custom, Germany, Sport by Abhi2 Comments

BMW’s K100RS is a tried-and-true sport-tourer, though even when it was new no one was overwhelmed by the power. A previous owner of this example has rectified that with one of the 200 turbo kits that were produced by RB Racing on behalf of Luftmeister!

Original Owner – 2006 BMW HP2 Enduro

In Dual-Sport, Germany by Abhi3 Comments

The HP2 Enduro was the perfect bike for riders who thought the R1200GS was capable but too heavy. Thanks to a trellis frame and conventional telescopic forks, the HP2 saved 53 pounds of weight from the standard GS. They’re nearly 2 decades old, and here’s a rare one that’s only had one owner (though that’s about to change).

BMW Airhead Custom – “The RK1”

In Custom, Germany by Abhi7 Comments

This custom was built by Omar Sayied (the man behind MotoGhost) as his “dream BMW”, combining the classic aircooled boxer motor with a modern chassis. It uses parts from BMWs between 1970 and 2002, and the only non-BMW components are the handlebars and the Yoshimura exhaust. What do you think?

One Owner – 2001 BMW R1100S

In Germany, Sport by Abhi10 Comments

In 1999, BMW took the most powerful boxer engine it had at the time and made their most aggressive looking bike so far, the BMW R1100S. Over time the used market has considered it more of a sport-tourer than a sport bike (especially thanks to features like optional bags that were the same as what you got on the GS), …

1970s BMW “Poor Man’s Paris Dakar” Custom

In Custom, Dual-Sport, Germany by Abhi1 Comment

This bike is going to need an engine as the current one is seized, but as the seller notes – that would be the “easiest component to replace” considering the extent of the modifications! The seller built this himself roughly 30 years ago to put up with “hard desert riding” and it’s one of the cooler custom BMW’s I’ve seen …

Boxer Mashup: A BMW /6-Swapped Sidecar Rig

In 3 Wheels, Custom, Germany by Gray Van Dyke5 Comments

With their broad power bands, smooth torque delivery, and unfailing reliability, boxer engines have long been a natural first choice for sidecar platforms. GS Conversion – 1984 BMW R80ST

In Custom, Dual-Sport, Germany by Abhi1 Comment

For two years, BMW created a street-focused variant of the R80GS. They only sold 5,963 examples of what was named the R80ST, and approximately 15% of them were exported to the US. Changes to the ST compared to the GS included less travel in the suspension, a 19″ front wheel and a total weight of 396 pounds. The engine produced …

Retro Military Custom – 1988 BMW R100GS

In Custom, Germany by Abhi7 Comments

Well, this is one of the odder customs I’ve featured here on Bike-urious! This is first-gen BMW R100GS that’s been converted into a “retro military” custom – the seller says that it “would make a great showpiece for a veterans non-profit or VFW hall.” What do you think?

2008 BMW K1200R

In Germany, Sport by Abhi1 Comment

“Gorilla in a Tuxedo.” That’s how Motorcycle.com described the K1200R, a naked version of BMW’s K1200S sportbike. It was big, fast, and a bit quirky – it was also the most powerful production naked bike available when it was released. As MCN put it, “The BMW K1200R is another from the latest-generation Beemers that blow away the firm’s reputation for …

I’ve featured plenty of BMW K1s on Bike-urious, but this variant was new to me. Per the seller, “Georges Martin (Noted French frame builder, not legendary English musical producer) built motorcycle frames throughout the 1970s, 1980s, early 1990s. This particular bike is associated with Brune, a German motorcycle performance company. The kit was purchased from US BMW gurus Luftmeister (think …
