Full disclosure – I may just be featuring this bike because of the novel sidecar and the picture with dogs. But the bike itself is well equipped with bags, Denfield seats, the sport gas tank, and the engine has been rebuilt. Still, the Steib Package/Delivery Sidecar is very rare (the seller suggests there might only be one other left in …
Reader Ride – 2003 Harley-Davidson Road King Sidecar
In 2003, Harley-Davidson released a 100th Anniversary edition of it’s venerable Road King. A very small amount of these bikes (known internally as the FLHRCI) came with a matching factory sidecar, with a total MSRP of nearly $29,000. This example is particularly worth noting as it’s being offered by one of my favorite Bike-urious readers!
1972 Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth Trike – American Beetle
Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth is a legend in the hot rod and rock-art community, thanks to his creations like Rat Fink. While his focus was on building cars, he did have a phase where he focused on trikes. The “American Beetle” was one of those creations, with a 36 horsepower engine from a VW Beetle and the front fork from …

The first postwar 600cc BMW, the R67 was produced for one year before the R67/2 was sold between ’52 and ’54. 4,226 units were sold before BMW moved to the /3, but this specific /2 has been converted into a very cool sidecar racer.

1999 Kawasaki ZRX1100 Sportcycle
Designed by Jim Musser, a former GM engineer, the Sportcycle is almost like a Kawasaki ZRX1100 where the front forks and tire have been replaced by a cockpit. For more information, check out this article from The Kneeslider. Though the paint job is different, the bike offered for sale is actually the same one featured in the article. Find this …

2006 BMW R1150GS Adventure with DMC Sidecar
In addition to a storied history, the BMW R1150GS owes a lot of its commercial success as an adventure bike to the Long Way Round, the story of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman going east from London to New York. Someone’s taken the adventure concept one step further with this BMW R1150GS Adventure with DMC Sidecar attached. Billed by the …
“The World’s Fastest Shitter” – The Outcycle
Back in the 60s, Tony and Wayne Del Rio made a name for themselves with custom show rods. Tony also made himself a very bizarre show motorcycle – the Outcycle, which was featured on the cover of Big Daddy Roth’s Choppers Magazine in 1965 and went on to win numerous show awards. The bike then sat until 2002, at which …
Airplane Trike
From r/motorcycles comes the discovery of this odd “Airplane Trike”, named as it utilizes part of the fuselage of a small aircraft. With the paint job, it definitely reminds me of a mutant school bus. Using the mechanical components of a ’89 Goldwing – 1500cc boxer six-cylinder producing 100 horsepower. Conveniently, the Wing has a 5-speed transmission with reverse, so …
1919 Indian Power Plus Sidecar
Post-Listing Update: Despite 16 bids up to $29,000, this Indian Power Plus Sidecar did not meet reserve. The Indian Power Plus was a successful roadster and canvas for racing bikes, especially with Erwin “Cannonball” Baker (after whom the Cannonball Run was named after). Today we’ve got an example that forgoes the racing pedigree and instead adds a sidecar.
Wehrmacht – 1941 BMW R12 Military Sidecar
Whenever I see a vintage looking BMW sidecar, I feel like 90% of the time it’s a Chang Jiang knock-off. Today I’m glad to report that it’s an actual vintage BMW hack. This BMW R12 Military Sidecar was typical of the bikes utilized by the German Army in the late 30s-40s for recon and communications. By 1941, BMW had sent …
One Wheel Drive – Dnepr MT11 Sidecar
Dnepr and Ural are often confused, as they are both Eastern European motorcycle companies that produced tough, 2wd capable sidecar machines, and both bikes share a similar creation story – they were based on the BMW R71. But as loyal owners of both brands will attest, there are several major differences. The key difference? Ural is still alive and kicking, …
