Post-Sale Update: This Ariel chopper sold for a best offer of $6,599. Ariel’s Square Four engine is a thing of beauty, but it’s rarely used in custom builds. Here’s one of those rarities that needs some work before it gets back on the road.
In England – 1981 Honda CB750 Custom
This custom Honda was built to “create a sixties Manx style café racer on a reliable donor” – in this case a ’81 Honda CB750 DOHC. Do you think the builder succeeded?
Birmingham Bee Liner – 1967 BSA Custom
Post-Sale Update: This custom BSA sold for the BIN of $12,000. Built by LC Fabrications, this bike placed 14th in the Freestyle Class of the 2009 AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building. It’s definitely different – but is it something you’d ever ride, or even own?
1971 Honda 750 ATV
Filed under ‘things I would not want to ride for more than 2 minutes’, this Honda CB750 has been converted into an ATV, and apparently all the modifications are bolt-on.
In France – Bad Winners Racing Rose – 1976 Honda CB550
The 15th build from Bad Winners in Paris, France, this custom Honda CB550 SuperSport is…uh, a custom Honda. What say you?
1 of 2 – 1992 Brough Superior SS120 Prototype
View PostBlack and Tan – 1978 Honda CB750K
I’ve featured a few MOTO PGH builds in the last few months – my impression is that they build rideable mild customs with a heavy cafe racer influence. This Honda based build is called the Black and Tan – what do you think?
In Spain – 2001 Ducati 750SS Scrambler Custom
Nowadays, “Ducati Scrambler” has a specific connotation, but this is something different. Every time I look at it I’m split between thinking it’s cool or stupid – what do you say?
1970 Dunstall Norton Commando
View PostIn Germany – 1953 Triumph Speed Twin 5T Custom
Built by BERHAM Customs out of Berlin, Germany, this Speed Twin has been bobbed on the original frame and I think it looks pretty damn good. What do you think?
Dockray Built – 1975 Moto Guzzi 850T Custom
Post-Sale Update: This 850T Custom sold for $8,610 after 36 bids on eBay. One of my favorite custom Guzzis of all time was this previously featured beauty built by George Dockray. I was so enthralled by it that I profiled George in an interview as well. I’m thus not surprised that this cool Guzzi was also built by Dockray.
Street Tracker Custom – 1978 Yamaha XS650
Built with a plethora of new parts, this XS650 has been converted into a ‘street tracker’ that recently took first place in the Metric class at the Michigan Chopper Fest hosted by Davidson Express.
Electric Cafe – 2012 Zero XU Custom
Post-Sale Update: This custom electric sold for $1,975 after 15 bids on eBay. Introduced in 2011, Zero’s XU model utilized a dirt bike frame but it was designed for street riding. One year later the bike gained belt drive, a new AC motor, and 50% more battery capacity. Two years later the bike was discontinued, making room for more new …
Quail Gathering Winner – 1999 Ducati Monster 750 Custom
Starting with a Ducati Monster, Jimmy Kilroy built a custom that kept the frame intact but surrounded it in fascinating bodywork. The build was completed in 2012, and the next year it won the “La Piu Bella” (the most beautiful) award at the Quail Motorcycle Gathering.
The Mud Dauber – 1999 HD Sportster 1200 Custom
Post-Listing Update: Despite 46 bids on eBay, the Mud Dauber did not meet reserve with bidding up to $11,600. Built to “ride like a supermoto or dirt bike”, the Mud Dauber is a Sportster scrambler custom that took a year to build. For what it’s worth, dauber is defined as “a crude or inartistic painter.”
