At the age of 81, Tony Serra retired from roadracing in November of last year – right after he won his sixth club level class championship at Willow Springs. That concluded a career that covered seven decades, and it made him the world’s oldest club racing champion. His championship-winning bike is now up for sale for the very reasonable price …
1983 Suzuki GR650D Tempter
This Suzuki is rarely seen in the US as it was only offered here in ’83 and ’84. In other markets it was called the GR650 (and available until ’89), for some reason it was called the Tempter in America. It’s a fairly straightforward UJM but it featured one interesting innovation: a ‘dual-stage’ flywheel with an centrifugal clutch that would …
Yamaha TDR80
Yamaha never officially exported the fantastic TDR250 to the US, which is why many American riders aren’t aware of it…or the tiny 50cc and 80cc versions!
Nice Price – 2019 Honda Monkey
MSRP on a new Monkey without ABS is $3,999 plus a $190 destination charge. Here’s a barely-used example (100 miles) that will set you back just $2,500.
1977 Kawasaki KE175
Introduced in 1976, the KE175 was the successor to Kawasaki’s popular F series, the last of which was the F7. Kawi split the model into the KD (competition) and the KE (enduro), and this one’s owned by an employee at Hagerty.
1981 Suzuki TS250
1981 was the last year of the Suzuki TS250, also known as the Savage. The year prior saw a complete cosmetic redesign with a headlight cowl and a box-section swingarm.
1997 Suzuki RMX250
Post Sale Update: This RMX sold for $3,220 after 31 bids on eBay in Little Rock, Arkansas. Sold between 1989-1998, the RMX250 was Suzuki’s enduro sibling to the RM250 motocrosser. Randy Hawkins had tremendous success with it in competition, winning five National Enduro titles with it before other manufacturers eventually caught up.
Restomod – 1976 Kawasaki KZ900
The successor to the Z1, Kawasaki’s KZ900 was sold as a reliable big bike that could tour or go fast, maybe even doing both at the same time! This example has been heavily modified – the question now is if you like the result more than the stock bike?
1982 Kawasaki GPz750
In 1982, Kawasaki introduced a middleweight to the GPz family between the 550 and the 1100 (a couple of years later, the 900 would also be released). The styling was right in line with the rest of the GPz series, though after one year Kawasaki increased the size of the front fairing.
1982 Honda Sabre V45
Here’s a first-year example of Honda’s V45 (750cc) Sabre. Within a couple of years, Honda had shrunk the bike down to 700 to circumvent the taxes imposed on 750cc and larger import bikes by the US International Trade Commission. This one stands out due to the impressive original condition and the rare Hondaline fairing.
1969 Greeves Ranger 250
Founded by Bert Greeves, the Greeves motorcycle company started when Bert was mowing his lawn and thought of mounting a lawnmower engine to the wheelchair of his disabled cousin to help with mobility. That led to a government contract, and Bert was inspired by his success to start building motorcycles as well. The company was quite successful with exports – …
1995 MZ Silver Star Classic Gespann
It’s rare to find factory sidecar options on bikes made in the last three decades, but the “Gespann” was MZ’s name for their sidecar option on the Silver Star.
195 Miles – 1979 Honda CX500
The CX500 has become a popular platform for customization, though this one is probably too nice to chop up.
Bike Review – 2020 KTM Duke 200
View PostUnexpected Custom – 1975 Moto Guzzi 850 Chopper
I’ve featured a couple of custom Ducati-powered choppers before, but this is the first one with a Guzzi motor in it.
