Over on the auction site we’ve got a Ducati F1 race bike that is affectionately known as “Walter.” It was originally purchased from a Suzuki dealership in California in 1986 as a racer, then built by Bud Rodgers of Nevada to compete in AMA and AFM. A previous owner was told that it was the AFM Twins Champion in 1991.
Ex-BSB Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha R7
Over on the auction site we’ve got something quite special – a Yamaha R7 that was campaigned in British Super Bike Rob Mac Racing with Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha. Even better, it was ridden by my buddy Jamie Robinson of MotoGeo!
Ex-MotoGP – 2008 Ducati GP8
It’s typically very hard to find an ex-MotoGP bike for sale from one of the factory teams, yet today I’ve got the second one for you in as many months. Four weeks ago we saw the 2003 Ducati entry piloted by Troy Bayliss, and today we’ve got the 2008 steed of Casey Stoner.
Raymond Roche’s Ride – 1987 Cagiva 500 GP Racer
The 1987 running of the World GP Championships was fought on 500cc two-stroke machines – per the seller, this is the steed of Raymond Roche, who placed 13th overall on the #8 of Team Cagiva – Alstare (Bastos).

View PostRare Project – 1988 Wood-Rotax Flat Tracker
Ron Wood established his racing company in 1982, initially selling Dell’Orto carbs and replacement parts. They quickly became the distributor of Rotax engines for competition, and started building racing frames in-house. These creations were homologated as “Wood-Rotax” and were available for competition in AMA flat track and dirt track. Here’s one that’s will need some work as it’s been sitting …

10-30-2020 Update: Two years later, this Laverda racer is back up for sale with a much lower asking price – but is it low enough? Find it with a BIN of $65,000 in Canton, Georgia here on eBay. 2018 Kramer Motorcycles HKR Evo2
In the world of boutique race bikes, Kramer is enjoying a tremendous amount of success – and the love of some of my buddies including Troy Siahaan at Motorcycle.com and Jensen Beeler at Asphalt & Rubber. The one sentence difference between Kramer’s offerings is that the S is for trackdays and the R is for racing. Here’s one of the …
1980 Wasp MX Sidecar
There isn’t much information and I wish the pictures were bigger, but this listing is too interesting to pass up seeing as the seller states that this MX hack has lots of race history and was a “trophy winner at Pikes Peak.”
1979 Laverda Formula 500
Post Listing Update: This Laverda was later relisted with a lower ask of $18,000, but it still did not get any bids. With just 210 examples built over three production batches between 1978 and 1980, the Formula 500 is one of Laverda’s rarest machines. This example was restored by Trevor Dunne of Ducati Santa Barbara and was featured in a …
Period Racer – 1974 Kawasaki Z1
Post Listing Update: The seller of this Z1 lowered the BIN of $12,000, but that wasn’t enough to get any action. Per the seller, this combination of a ’74 frame and a ’73 engine was converted to a racer in the 1970s and retired from racing in the early 1980s. “The story is that this bike was raced in the …

This is the Ducati V4R that Scott Redding used to win the 2019 BSB championship with the Paul Bird Motorsport/Be Wiser Ducati Team – it’s one of just two BSB V4Rs that PBM sold after last season, and this is the first time it’s been made available to the public.

Ready to compete in WERA’s Vintage 5 class, this KZ650 looks like a baby ELR.
The Real Deal – 2019 KTM RC16 Factory MotoGP Race Bikes
Don’t worry – it’s August 1st, not April 1st. Every once in a while, you’ll see the opportunity to snag a former MotoGP race bike, but there’s typically some sort of caveat, such as it’s a Claiming Rule Team bike and not a factory bike. The last time a factory race team sold a racer was 2012 – Ducati auctioned …
