Post Sale Update: This GB500 sold for $4,729 after 44 bids on eBay.
The 1989-90 GB500 is a favorite here on Bike-urious. It’s a modern classic with undeniable credentials: style, reliability, collectibilty, ride-ability, it’s retro and has the simplicity of an old-school thumper — it’s all there. At the time, manufacturers were throwing lots of ideas into the marketplace, with Honda producing interesting stuff like the Hawk GT, CB-1, Africa Twin, PC800 and the GB500. Not all of them stuck but all have since become sought after models based upon their own unique traits and qualities.
This particular GB has apparently been on display for some 17 years. The seller doesn’t specifically state if it’s currently running, but notes two unfortunate flaws on an otherwise low-mileage (2,759) example; a holed seat cover and dented tank. With GB500 values running a wide range from about $4000 to $10,000 this would make for a fine rider or a easy restoration candidate.
