Post-Listing Update: This Kawasaki W2 650SS did not meet reserve at $5,000.
The bigger brother of the W1 (a name which Kawasaki would eventually bring back), the Kawasaki W2 650SS was also known as the Commander.
The Commander was introduced in 1968 and received a slight horsepower bump (52 vs 49) versus the W1. Both bikes featured a 624cc twin, though the W2 was capable of 115 miles per hour thanks to the power bump. Sales were not tremendous, so Kawasaki stopped selling it in the US in 1970.
This specific Kawasaki W2 650SS has undergone a full ‘nut and bolt’ restoration, with just 200 miles on the odometer since the work was performed. The bike looks to be in great shape (especially the glimmer on the tank), and it’s ready for a new owner.
