According to the seller of this R50/2, this bike is a concours quality restoration that has preserved the original factory pinstriper’s initial under the tank. The photos make this bike look great, but the asking price is 50% higher than I’ve seen for other restored examples.
The bike has less than 500 miles on it since the restoration, which included powdercoating the frame, rebuilding the engine and transmission, and the good sense of the restorer to detect the factory pinstriper’s initial and to keep that preserved. As this bike rarely gets ridden the battery is currently dead (for this kind of money I’d hope the seller would just replace the battery) and there’s some small touchups and imperfections in the right rear fender where a dual seat used to be mounted.
Last month I featured a restored R50/2 that sold for just over $10k. Is this worth about $5k more? Find this R50/2 for sale in Boulder, Colorado for $15,000 here on Craigslist. This was previously sold by Angus Dykman over at Northeast Sportscar, who shared this video before the new owner acquired it:
