The Suzuki SV650 and Harley-Davidson Sportster were originally designed to stay on pavement. But thanks to some creative owners, I can show you two examples that have been converted into bikes that can handle pavement or dirt.
Let’s start with the converted SV650. It has 17,063 miles, though the engine was rebuilt 5,000 miles ago. The forks have been replaced with the ones from a Yamaha YZ MXer, and the shock has been replaced with a Hayabusa unit with a modified knuckle. That gives 9 inches of travel in the front and 8 inches in the rear. Crash guards have been installed, a rear rack has replaced the passenger seat. Aftermarket pieces include a Spitfire windshield and a Delkevic exhaust.

Or, maybe you’re more of a Harley guy. In that case, here’s a converted Sportster that’s been set up as a street tracker with custom high pipes, wheels from a XS650, MX-style footpegs, and more.
