When it comes to the Matchless brand, the CSR acronym is typically associated with the G12. But the seller of this G80 claims to have 1 of 20 G80 GSRs built as a special order for the Rhodesian High Commission for their police force. I can’t find any independent verification of this and the reader who submitted this to me said it’s been available for around 1.5 years, so this is either a good recipe for negotiation or a bike that won’t sell for a while.

Matchless G80 Rhodesian Police - Pedestrian Slicer

According to the seller, this was one of the last bike produced by Matchless. It is numbers matching and is somehow both “99% original” and the recipient of a ‘complete, original restoration’ by International Classic Motorcycles out of Canada. In the seller’s words, “After years of service it was sold in South Africa, then purchased by a person who moved to Canada bringing the bike with him. The bike has run in miles on it only and is ready for both riding and show.”

If the background is true, then it’s quite a story. Do you believe it? If so, find this Matchless for sale here on Craigslist in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada for $16,500 or best offer.
