A couple of months ago, I met Danish Zaheer Rizvi, who got a degree in Transportation Design. He’s an avid motorcyclist who came up with a concept for an “adjustable” motorcycle. You’ve seen adjustable handlebars, adjustable footpegs, and maybe some other components, but nothing like this! With a design, one bike can feel like multiple.
CONVERGO is a combination of ERGOnomically and CONVertible. This bike was Danish’s thesis project and the centerpiece of the work is the pneumatic cylinder system that adjusts seat position of the Yamaha RX100 that was used as the platform for this build. Danish designed and fabricated almost all the new parts himself.
In danish’s words, “The idea was to build a motorcycle which is more rider centric, in which the rider could be able to adjust the height of the motorcycle seat and the length from the handgrips to the seat to match his/her height and requirements. The adjustment is done through telescopic mechanism and pneumatic system. So any rider would be able to achieve the comfortable sitting posture according to his/her ergonomics.”
So with one bike, you can position yourself upright for your commute to work in the morning, leaned forward for a blast through the twisties, and then leaned backward for a relaxing trip on the highway back home. What do you think – is this something that should make it into some production motorcycles?
