Kevin Murphy is a retired master mechanic who has been working on Honda GL/CX bikes for years – I featured one of his previous builds almost exactly a year ago.
This example pairs a ’82 GL500 frame with a ’83 GL650 engine. It also features a CX650 Eurosport tank, Honda CBR954RR rear shock, the front end from a Suzuki GSX-R 750, and lots of components from Hotwing Glass. There’s an impressive amount of work to modernize this bike, and while I prefer the cosmetics of his previous bike (which won People’s Choice at last year’s Daytona Bike Week Cafe Racer Show), this doesn’t look bad at all. This bike was shown at Barber a few months ago, and I like that it’s got superbike bars with 2 inch risers for a more upright position.
For more information on this build, check out this profile from Bike Bound – or this 360 degree view from Unique Bike. This bike has 1,000 miles on it and it’s claimed to be perfect. Find this custom Honda for sale here on Craigslist for $6,500 in Ocala, Florida.
