With a custom paint job and lots of modifications (such as a 555cc big-bore kit), this Gamma isn’t for purists. But it was built by Rick Lance and should make for a very fun rider!
Suzuki won 7 consecutive manufacturer titles in the 500cc Grand Prix class with their Gamma racer, and it inspired a street bike called the RG500. Classic Motorbikes said the “Suzuki is almost an exact replica of the race machine, its roots can be traced directly to the 1983 factory XR45 and the crankcases, barrels and general engine layout are virtually identical to the bikes ridden by Sheene, Mamola, Crosby and the rest of the factory boys.” This Gamma stands out as it was recently restored and has a California title.
In addition to the big bore kit, this example (VIN: JS1HM31A6G2100726) features a Maranello transmission kit, GSX-R radiator, Suzuki Katana wheels, upgraded forks and shock, and a few Lance Gamma parts: upgraded clutch, TriPod air filter kit, and supplemental fuel shut off valves. There’s no history given as to when or why it happened, but the tank has apparently been signed by Randy Mamola (who did campaign a Suzuki RG500 in the early 80s of the World Championships).
