Post-Listing Update: This BMW R90S did not meet reserve on eBay, despite 47 bids up to $8,100.

I adore the BMW R90S, which was a game-changer when it was released to the world. The Daytona Orange color was the second of two available paint schemes, both of which are beautiful and incredibly difficult to reproduce. With oversight from Hans Muth, this bike was built to show the world that BMW could make more than just touring bikes for old guys. Reg Pridmore helped soldify that claim with a first place finish in the first ever AMA Superbike Championship series in 1976.

The airhead engine produced 67 horespoewer and 56 pound-feet of torque. Last year, BMW celebrated its 90th anniversary, as well as the 40th anniversary of the R90S. To commemorate the milestone, BMW hired Roland Sands to build a homage to this bike (in a similar distinctive orange paint scheme). Daytona Orange BMW R90S - Engine

This specific BMW R90S (VIN: 4981038) is in ‘excellent condition’, thanks to a complete engine overhaul when the bike had 30,085 miles in 1996. Upgrades include Dyna 111 electronic ignition, progressive springs up front and shocks in rear. You’ll also get a new gel battery, and some minor cosmetic scratches (the worst of which are on the front fairing).
