Here are my choices for some interesting results of motorcycles featured on Bike-urious in the December of 2016.
This will only include listings from eBay (or other auction sites). I unfortunately have no way of finding out final sale prices of bikes offered on Craigslist/Cycle Trader/Kijiji/etc. With that said, here are some highlights from last month – thanks to reader Eric H, I’m also including locations of the sales as well:
Motorsport Livery – 1980 BMW R100 Custom – it had to be relisted a couple of times, but eventually this cafe’d BMW sold for a BIN of $12,000 in Pompano Beach, Florida.
1978 Kawasaki Z1-R – sold for $11,099 after 16 bids on eBay in Auburn, Washington.
Trophy Winner – 1962 Triumph Bonneville – sold for $22,000 after 43 bids on eBay in Port Huron, Michigan.
1971 Benelli Sport Special 125 – sold for $2,550 after 12 bids on eBay in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Turbo Rickman Project – 1978 Kawasaki CR1100 – sold for $6,000 after 14 bids on eBay in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Rare in the US – 1972 Honda CB50 – sold for $2,025 after 63 bids on eBay in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Jason Paul Michaels Build – 1988 Honda VT800 Cafe Racer – sold for $6,100 after 19 bids on eBay in Orlando, Florida.
Sitting in Sweden – 1980 Bimota SB3 – sold for $16,000 in Vendelsö, Sweden.
Sisufab Build – 1969 Honda CL350 Custom – sold for $3,650 after 9 bids on eBay in West Fargo, North Dakota.
Harley Davidson Hummer Collection – this entire collection of 12 Hummers sold for $24,999 in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Comet Powered – 1951 Vincent Black Shadow – sold for $34,100 after 7 bids on eBay (per the terms of the auction, that did not include the engine or transmission) in Palm Desert, California.
No Reserve – 1991 Honda Africa Twin RD04 – a no reserve auction feels like the most honest way to know the value of a bike. In this case, 50 bids got this Africa Twin up to the sale price of $3,501 in Jonesborough, Tennessee.
1959 Ducati 200 Turismo – sold for $8,000 after 30 bids on eBay in Murrieta, California.
Still in Crate – 1971 Jawa Californian 350 – sold for $12,100 after 72 bids in eBay in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
Signed by Big Daddy Roth – 1965 Skat Kitty Minibike – sold for $2,900 after 42 bids on eBay in Galveston, Texas.
1948 Harley-Davidson FL w/Sidecar and Questions – sold for $33,900 – looks like the BIN price was bumped up after the seller learned it was a Goulding sidecar in Milford, Connecticut.
https://www.bike-urious.com/1979-honda-cbx-custom/ – this originally got no interest at a BIN of $25,000. The seller lowered the BIN to $19,950 and the bike then sold in San Luis Obispo, California.
Here’s some stuff that did not sell.
“Frank” – 1977 Honda CB550 Custom – despite a hefty 74 bids on eBay, Frank did not meet reserve at $7,000 in Irving, Texas.
19K Redline – 1990 Honda CBR250RR MC22 – did not meet reserve despite 26 bids up to $6,650 in Seattle, Washington.
$4.75 Million – 1996 Coca-Cola Road King – obviously, this Road King did not attract a buyer at the asking price of $4.75 million.
Citroen 2CV in Slovenia – 2013 Custom Build – the seller keeps relisting this bike at a BIN of $11,000 but no one’s buying.
Erzberg Edition – 2009 KTM 950 Super Enduro – got no action at the opening bid of $8,500 in Windermere, Florida.
What surprised you? I didn’t think anyone would bite at the Bimota SB3. The opening bid was $15K and I thought it needed too much work at that number. Apparently I was wrong. I was also stunned that the Ezberg 950SE got no love – I’ve seen much higher sale prices on ADVRider.
