The frame is from a ’72 Honda 250, but the motor is totally unexpected – a Yanmar 400cc diesel engine.
The seller says that he built it in 2015 and he has “been riding it every year since. He notes that “with the proper gearing it will do 56 mph. I have it geared a little lower right now because I live in a hilly area and that works better for me.” He also adds that “a new Yanmar costs about $2,500 and is worth it. You would be getting a whole bike for that much.”
Other modifications include rare rebuilt forks, new shocks, a rebuilt seat, and more. The single-cylinder Yanmar engine is paired with a CVT transmission and is claimed to get 120 miles per gallon in this application. The engine looks to be a L100, which is good for about 10 horsepower.
