Bob Dron made a name for himself by opening what was (in 1993) the world’s largest Harley-Davidson dealership. Based in Oakland, the dealership also had a design center that ended up creating some of the coolest/craziest custom Harleys around.
For more on Bob, check out this article on Biker Hotline from when he retired back in 2010. One of the creations out of Bob’s design center was the “Dron Mk. I concept bike”, a Buell White Lightning with some interesting new bodywork hand-hammered out of aluminum. Cycle World did a quick article on it in January of 1998, where they called it the Raging Buell.
Now the protoytpe (VIN: 4mzys56j7w3230034) is up for sale, with just 90 miles on it. The seller (Carbuffs) notes that the bike runs great but you’ll want to replace the tires (which are original) before you enjoy it on the road.
