3/2/21 Update: Five years later, this bike is back up for sale. The seller says that the bike was originally commissioned by his friend but it sat in his living room for 4 years. “I was asked to look over the bike for him and realised it needed quite a bit of additional work, lockdown gave me the time to rework it getting it to its best. The bike is now registered and insured to me, bike builder & Ducati man.” It’s got plenty of new parts and it’s now in Hampshire, England. Find it with an asking price of ~$9,780 here on Facebook Marketplace.
Last year, Ad Hoc Cafe Racers came out with their 5th bike – called Haptica, and it’s my favorite Multistrada-based build. Now it’s for sale in Germany, and I don’t even think the price is unreasonable (like most customs of this type).
This bike has received plenty of coverage on sites like BikeEXIF and Bike Shed, where you can go if you want more information on the build, but the one liner summary is that it’s a 2004 Multi that was designed to be a ‘lightweight, urban racer’.
Hell, this bike even made it into The Ride 2nd Gear, for those of you who prefer books over the web.
The bike is currently on UK plates and apparently the headlight has been changed to “something more road legal/functional”, but there’s no photo of the updated lighting. I love this custom and I’m already jealous of the lucky buyer who’ll get it next. Find the Haptica for sale here on the Bike Shed for $12,928 in Leipzig, Germany.
