Paul Dunstall’s motorcycle business was humming by the time the 70s rolled around, and he was so successful that he had started shipping completed motorcycles over to contracted delaers in the United States. By the mid 70s, he was almost exactly splitting his production between Norton and Hondas, though he was definitely more famous for his work with the British firm. Here’s an example of Norton’s 850 Commando with a Dunstall kit including the fairing, exhaust, tank, seat, and rearsets.
This example has some work done by the famous Colorado Norton Works, including a rebuilt oil tank and polishing of the gearbox cover. Other work includes a Norvil anti-sumping timing cover, NOS master cylinder, Pazon electronic ignition, and rebuilt speedometer/tachometer. THe bike has several new parts – tires, chain, sprockets, cables, and a Dunstall 2-into-1-into-2 exhaust. Nearly all of the original parts are included and will come with the sale. Note that the “Norton Club of England has no record of this bike,” and the side covers are not original.
