Post Listing Update: This Commando did not meet reserve at $8,100.
10-8 Update: This Norton is back up for sale with bidding up to $7,000 and the reserve not yet met
This Norton Commando has been customized with a Dunstall kit, and in the process it has turned into something that actually reminds me of the Production Racer.
Every reader of this site presumably knows the Commando – if not, your homework assignment is the ‘Brief History Lesson’ by Walter Barlow. This is a numbers matching 750 Commando that was bought by the seller 500 miles after it was restored. He then threw on a Dunstall kit and put only 400 miles on it over several years.
This specific Norton has 18,448 miles. The Dunstall kit includes the fiberglass tank, fairing, and seat. The seller didn’t like the seat, so it was replaced with a Production Racer model. It also comes with Hagon shocks, steering dampener, AGM battery, and more. Only buy this bike if you like attention, because according to the seller,
“Draws a crowd everywhere and I have taken to telling people that I don’t know anything about it and borrowed it from a friend. If you are going to ride this bike regularly I suggest having some cards printed up with the details and having them ready to hand out.”
