Post Sale Update: El Diablo sold for $9,500 on BaT.

6-15-17 Update: A month later, reader Sam P pointed out to me that this bike is now up for bidding at Bring a Trailer. Bidding is up to $3,001 and you can find it here on BaT.

Post Listing Update: This CX100 did not meet reserve as bidding stalled at $7,300. If it gives you an idea of what the seller was looking for, reader Bob K notes that this is now up for sale here on Craigslist for $13,000.

This is the second customized CX100 I’ve featured in a week, though this one is specifically built as a cosmetic custom. The seller notes that he “never really liked the look of the stock CX100”, so he heavily modified it. What’s your take on the final result?

This example (VIN: VU111556) was one of just 72 CX’s built in 1981, which is why the seller did not modify the frame in any way. The aluminum bodywork has been hand-formed, while the motor was rebuilt with high-comp pistons, new cylinders, and straight cut timing gears. The carbs have been upgraded to 36mm Dell’Ortos, and other highlights include a BUB Conti replica exhaust, Marzocchi shocks, Tarozzi rearsets, delinked Brembo brakes off an unspecified Ducati, PUCH headlight bucket, relocated electronics, BUB high capacity oil pan, and more. The seller says this bike “refuses to be ridden casually.”
