Post-Listing Update: 27 bids got the action up to $15,100, but this Ducati 900SS Custom by Atom Bomb did not meet reserve. It has since been relisted with an opening bid of $23,900
Previously featured on BikeEXIF, this Ducati 900SS Custom is the work of Atom Bomb Custom Motorcycles. They call this bike Eleven – I call it fantastic.
Starting as a stock bike that needed plenty of work, Clay Rathburn turned this into his first sport bike project. Engine work included 30 hours of head work, Fast by Ferraci pistons, a hand-made exhaust, and plenty more. Surprisingly, the bike has not been dyno’d after the work. With that said, it has got some track time at Summit Point and the frame geometry is identical to a Ducati 999.
This specific Ducati 900SS Custom (VIN: ZDM1LC4N4TB023202) has clearly been customized – BikeEXIF just named it one of their top 10 custom bikes of the first half of 2014. In addition to the engine work, has a custom built frame as well as hand fabricated aluminum body work (you might notice that the tail light is from a Ducati 1098). The rear suspension is primarily from a Ducati 999, while the front suspension utilizes some 900SS parts as well as the front wheel from an Aprilia RSV.
Part of the charm of a bike that’s been customized this much is how it sounds, so check out this brief video to get a taste:
