The MVX250F stands out for a few reasons – but the most notable is the unusual two-stroke V3 motor. Honda has a well-earned reputation for reliability but this was one of their few misses. That just makes it all the more impressive to see one still around and kicking, especially as they were only really sold in Japan and New Zealand.
Some consider this bike to be Honda’s first ‘real’ attempt at a 2-stroke sportbike, and it was only available in Japan and a few other countries in close proximity, like New Zealand. The V3 engine had two horizontal cylinders with a vertical cylinder that stuck up between them. Unfortunately, the engine was notoriously unreliable due to failure of the vertical rear cylinder – which caused an engine seizure. For more information, head on over to Tanshanomi’s Snap Judgments.
This example (VIN: MC09-1014647) was imported from Japan, does not have a title, and has not been registered in the US. The odometer shows 1,792 miles and the engine last run 6 months ago. This will need a little bit of work but if you want something hard to find and you live in a state that’s lax with what you’re allowed to put a plate on, it might be a worthwhile project if you can snag it for cheaper than the opening bid in the future. Find this Honda MVX250F for sale in Santa Ana, California with an unmet opening bid of $5,800 (where I frankly assume it will stay until the auction is over) in Carson, California
