Post-Listing Update: This KTM got no interest at the opening bid of $1,500.
A rare bird in the US, the KTM 80MX was KTM’s first foray into 80cc youth bikes and they’re quite the collector’s item now. What blows my mind is how much power this tiny bike was capable of putting down – check out this vintage ‘ad’ for a Tiger 80, a youth ATV based directly off the KTM 80MX:
At 11,500 rpm, this engine is producing over 23 horsepower. I can’t really comprehend was this little MX bike must be like with that kind of power. This example is claimed to be in ‘very good all original shape’, though the plastics may have received a spray paint job at some point. It’s being offered by the second owner who notes that the bike is not mint – but it’s hard to find these bikes at all nowadays.
