Post Sale Update: After 9 bids on eBay, this BMW sidecar combo sold for $16,400.
I love my K1200R, but the last thing I’d consider is bolting up a hack to it. The seller of this combination has answered a question I’ve never considered asking with his combination of a K12R and a Hannigan Bandito sidecar.
The seller states that this (VIN: WB10594086ZN55912) is one of the super rare K12R Power Cup bikes but I was under the impression that those were factory race bikes that weren’t street legal and had some modifications like a different gauge cluster. With that said, I’ve seen people get titles and license plates for weirder stuff, so I’d confirm with the seller. Regardless, it’s equipped with lots of great components – Galespeed forged aluminum wheels, Ohlins suspension, Galfer brake rotors, Evoluzione paralever arm, Wunderlich handlebars/levers, Verholen foot peg lowering kit, and more. The biggest modification is obviously the sidecar, which was installed at the Hannigan factory in 2011. The hack has its own goodies, like a Brembo brake and Progressive shock. Per the seller, it can be disconnected in ten minutes and reattached in twenty.
I have to say, this bike looked oddly familiar to me. Then, when I was going through the photos in the listing, I noticed that this has a California plate and it all clicked – I saw this bike in Santa Monica 6 years ago and took a photo of it because I was so stunned and amused by the dog in the sidecar! My R11S (RIP) is in the back:
The bike has since moved, so you can now find this unexpected combo for sale in Dublin, Ohio with bidding up to $12,600
