Even More of Doc’s Crazy Customs! Dnepr and Buell

Post Sale Update: The Dnepr sold for $2,001 after 33 bids, and the double SSSA Buell sold for $4,306 after 14 bids.

At this point I should just rename this site “Doc’s Little Shop of Horrors”. Two more have been put up for sale and I’m think I’m legally obligated to share them with you. First though – thanks to commenter Rusty, I now know that “Doc” is actually Dr. Robert Harms. The Kneeslider has a great post on the last Indian/Kawasaki build I featured, with a choice quote from the builder who has unfortunately recently passed away. Doc had “decided restorations had become “creatively confining and … [he] wanted to engage in projects that required a greater physical and intellectual skill set.”

Doc Dnepr - Front Right

The first bike (VIN: 416317) is a 1970 Dnepr with Sportster forks on Suzuki triple trees wit a Honda wheel, Goldwing rotor, and Buell calipers. Ain’t that a smorgasboard? The headlight is from a 1915 Model T, the gas tank is from a Honda Rebel, and the carb is from a VW car. The motor kicks over but it does not currently run. Find it with bidding up to $609 in Tampa, Florida

Doc Dnepr - Rear Left

The other bike (VIN: 4MZKP13C313501623) is more interesting to me – a double (!) single-sided swing arm contraption with the engine from a Buell Blast. Take that, Bimota! The engine is said to turn over but does not currently run. It’ll obviously need some work, but this is almost worth it as a display piece just for the suspension. Doc was awesome.

The last time I featured one of these, it was quite popular (though probably not for the right reasons). Reader yrrah was trying to find more examples of the builder’s work – I don’t know if he was successful but I sure as hell wasn’t able to…until now. Two more of Doc’s builds are up for sale and there’s just as insane as the “BMW” from last week. Just like before, I have no idea how to describe these – so you’ll just have to enjoy the pictures.
