The BMW S1000RR was an instant hit from the time it first debuted in 2009. The machine boasts a myriad of trick electronic assists and is an all around fantastic superbike. The fact Keith Code opts to use a fleet of S1KRR’s, year after year at his prestigious California Superbike School is a testament to the German motorcycle’s quality and prowess. While the newest (non-homologation) German Superbike is a popular street bike, but it’s on the race track that this German feat of engineering really shines and this ex-AMA upgraded track weapon is a wonderful example of just how capable this motorcycle becomes when fitted with top of the line components.

This 2010 S1K-double-R was raced in the 2010 AMA series, piloted by Jeremy Toye and Steve Rapp for the San Diego BMW/ Locust Racing Team where it saw a handful of top ten finishes. The example for sale only has five race weekends on its current (tuned) power plant and supposedly was sold in 2012 for $25k, making its current sub-$10k price increasingly reasonable. Despite BMW’s current superbike not experiencing too much success in WSBK, it’s nonetheless a phenomenal machine, and in all fairness it has won races. (1,2 finish at Donnington in 2012 in WSBK, winning almost every race of the 2010 FIM Superstock 1000 season, Michael Dunlop’s 2014 and 2016 TT wins, and Colin Edwards even piloted a S1000RR alongside MotoGP machines in 2012 where he finished 12th).

Like all luxury German engineered vehicles, the S1000RR doesn’t come cheap, so the fact that this particular example that also boasts well over a dozen substantial upgrades is a pretty sweet deal. The bike has all the top-shelf parts you’d expect to find on a full-fledged race machine such as full Öhlins suspension (25mm gas cartridges, TTX rear shock, and steering damper/stabilizer), full Brembo brakes (19×18 master and rotors, married via braided lines) and Ferodo pads. An Attack triple clamp and linkage was added to the mix along with Vortex rearsets and Catalyst reaction race bodywork. Akrapovic full headers and mid pipe with FMF can has been paired with a factory BMW ECU from one of the manufacturer’s even more elite HP-spec models. The current seller also states that there are additional upgrades that included as well.

While spending nearly five-figures on a track-only machine is by no means small potatoes, this bike is nonetheless somewhat of a relative steal as recreating this machine – even with a used S1kRR model – would probably cost double this example’s asking price. The S1000RR is truly a breathtaking machine in both performance and appearance (and I personally think it’s even sexier without the asymmetric headlight). So whether you’re looking to enter organized competition or just want to tear up your local track a few weekends per month, this is the machine to do it on.

You can find this race-ready ex-AMA 2010 BMW S1000RR superbike for sale here on Craigslist in Lancaster, California (just north of LA) with a price of $9,100. You can also read about this exact machines experience at Racing an AMA double header at Road America days here on the San Diego BMW website.
