You’ve seen two wheel drive bikes before thanks to companies like Rokon. But thanks to a fancy mechanical system enclosed within the head tub and frame, Christini has been the most successful manufacturer of two wheel drive bikes that can go anywhere and do it quickly. They’re also the only one who had any success (though limited) with selling bikes to the US military and according to the seller, this is one of those rare examples.
The bike is mostly based on a Honda CRF450X (many parts are interchangeable), with a Chinese engine from Asia Wing. To maximize reliability, the Christini engine has a lower compression ratio and stainless steel valves, compared to the titanium units in the Honda. While engines are sourced from China, final assembly is done in Philadelphia, where Christini is based. Impressively, the company claims that the front drive system weighs 15 pounds and results in only a 1% loss in power. Check out the technological details here on the Christini website.
Per the seller, this is “1 of only 10 built all wheel drive christini 450 built for the us special forces.” He adds that it was “purchased directly from the miliatry and completely gone through and serviced top to bottom,” which simultaneously says a lot and very little. I’d ask for some more details (you can just go buy a “Military Edition” directly from Christini right now if you wish) but the story is cool if accurate and it comes with a ton of extras: “rekluse auto clutch, which makes it nearly impossible to stall the bike, oversized radiators, high output alternator, baja designs led headlight, Baja designs infrared lights for night vision, bulletproof run flat airless tires, elka stage 5 shock and forks, shaft driven awd.”
