This bike is being offered by the 2nd owner, but the first was none other than “Mr. Daytona” himself, Scott Russell. If you’re not familiar with him, he earned his nickname by winning the Daytona 200 a record five times (in seven years, and the two years he didn’t win he came in second by .05 and .01 seconds!). Oh, and the first year he didn’t win Daytona in that sequence (1993), he was the World Superbike Champion. No big deal.
For more on Russell, check out his profile from the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame. This bike (VIN: JYARN15E36A003640) is #296 of the 500 Limited Ediiton R1s that Yamaha produced, and it’s claimed to be in excellent condition. As a refresher, the Limited Editions were more than a fancy paint job – they came with Ohlins suspension, Marchesini wheels, a slipper clutch, and more goodies. This bike has other extras like an Ohlins steering damper, Akrapovic titanium full exhaust, Power Commander 5, Graves frame and clutch sliders, Pazzo levers, Vortex rearsets, and plenty more. The seller will include all the stock parts, the repair manual, and the “Limited Edition” tool kit that has never been used.
