Post Sale Update: originally sold for $2,750 after 12 bids on eBay but the sale fell through. Was relisted a couple of times and then sold for a BIN of $2,500.
The seller notes that this former East German Police MZ is missing a saddlebag – to my untrained eye it appears that it might also need some decals and a few accessories. Still, it’s a cool rare find that’s been restored so it’s ready to ride.
The MZ TS250 features a 2 stroke 250cc single cylinder engine that produces 19 horsepower, which was enough to get this bike up to a top speed of 79 miles per hour. With that said, anecdotes I’ve seen online suggest that above 60, this bike doesn’t feel very happy.
This example (VIN: 3635074) is claimed to have been restored with a powdercoated frame, repainted bodywork, rebuilt motor, and several new parts: tires, bulbs, battery, chain covers, petcock, and seat covers. It has approximately 21,700 miles.
