Post-Listing Update: This Matchless G3 did not meet reserve at $4,250.
Back when I interviewed Angus Dykman of Northeast Sportscar, he specifically called out a few of his bikes as ones that weren’t available for sale at the time. I found myself absolutely taken with one of the bikes in particular, so I’m surprised to see that this former Royal Auxiliary Fire Service Matchless G3 is now available.
A 350cc thumper, this G3 is one of the 457 examples that was ordered for the Royal British Auxiliary Fire Service. Originally painted in Deep Bronze Green per the Home Office, this bike was stationed in Royston and then auctioned off at a Ministry of Supply auction in April 1969. Relatively recently, the bike was restored and then fitted with the tank from a Competition Scrambler. It’s had plenty of additional work recently including rebuilt front forks, new Boyer electronic ignition, and more. This is one of the prettiest classic Brits I’ve seen in a while.
