In case a Bimota is too expensive, and a Ducati is too pedestrian…
How about a Laverda? Chances are you’ll be the only one with one of these at your local bike night.
Laverda built some famous bikes in the 70’s, then went away until the late 90’s. The marque was reborn with a middleweight parallel twin that was put together with a modern beam frame and some quality components. Think Paioli, Brembo, and Termignoni. Problem was the engine was based on a dated design from their 500 twin of the 70’s. With a claimed 85 HP it was not exactly a rocket, but handling was claimed to be excellent. The limited performance, some questionable Italian reliability and lack of dealer support meant rapid depreciation for these bikes.
This Laverda looks to be in good condition. Full Termi system, new tires, aftermarket WP shock. Could be a cool ride, maybe even a future classic, as not that many made it to the US.
