Factory Custom Perfection – 2018 MV Agusta RVS #1

In 2017 MV Agusta launched its RVS, or Reparto Veicoli Speciali (translated from Italian, means “Special Vehicles Department). The Italian marque partnered with their in-house CRC (Castiglioni Research Centre) to deliver a limited production run of extremely exclusive factory customs based on the already gorgeous Brutale Dragster 800 RR. Known as the 2017 RVS #1, the first machine born out of the new department sported a vast array of trick parts (Kineo rims, side-mounted auxiliary LEDs, a titanium SC Project exhaust, and a titanium tank), high-end finishes, CNC machined components, and other minor touches typically associated with the elite custom scene. Each example is hand-assembled on at a special facility at the Schiranna factory.

After generating an enormous amount of hype with the RVS #1 in 2017, MV decided to keep the project going in 2018, resulting in the slightly modified 2018 RVS #1. The 2018 model features CRC’s CNC’d mirrors, swingarm guard, levers and lever-guards, LED signals, license plate holder, frame side-plates, adjustable rear-sets, upper triple, clutch cover, wheel nut, and crown wheel nut, as well as carbon fenders, tank cover, air-scoops, airbox, custom headlight and instrumentation brackets. In addition to full LED lighting throughout, the RVS also boasts an adaptive (lean-angle sensitive) headlight and side-mounted auxiliary LEDs held via a carbon bracket. The elite MV also comes with a custom-style hexagonal stitched saddle, smoked lenses, CNC’d reservoirs, quick-release gas cap, and one hell of a paint job, (though I don’t love the Punisher/Stone Cold Steve Austin-style skulls). An SC Project exhaust also comes with the bike, as does a special race ECU, though both are track only. Kineo rims are also featured on the 2018 RVS. Each bike also comes with a certificate of authenticity delivered in a neat little wooden box, as well as a special bike cover, track stands, and a few other knickknacks. These models very much blur the line between production and custom.

On top of all the trick upgrades, titanium, CNC’d aluminum, and carbon fiber bits, the RVS also boasts all the cutting-edge tech found on the standard Dragster. Electric quick-shifter (up and down), integrated GPS sensor, heated grips, Bluetooth connectivity, and the entire suite of rider aids all come standard. Plus, the RVS is more than a dressed-up Brutale. At the heart of the exclusive model is what’s reportedly MV’s most powerful triple ever, making around 150hp (at 12,800rpm) while weighing in at just 350lbs. The RVS reportedly boasts a 0-60 mph of just 3.72 seconds, a power-to-weight ratio of 2.05lbs per HP, and a claimed top speed of over 150 mph.

While we don’t typically feature brand new bikes on this site, this one is just too rare (and too cool) to pass up. This particular 2018 RVS#1 is currently wearing MV’s admittedly stunning triple-pipe exhaust, though I assume the sale includes the SC Project system. This example also appears to be missing some of the engine protection mentioned on the MV website. There really are far too many details to mention, so I recommend checking out the RVS’s page on MV’s website for a more exhaustive list (and more photos).

According to MV Agusta’s website, the 2018 RVS carries and MSRP of €36,000, which translates to just shy of $42K. So while the RVS is obviously very expensive, this example is seemingly going for less than the normal MSRP. Price aside, this is one of the best-looking motorcycles to ever leave the factory.

You can find this 2018 MV Agusta RVS #1 for sale here on Craigslist in Belleville, New Jersey (at the Motorcycle Mall) with a price of $36,000.
