Harley Davidson really did have big news for the 1965 model year. First year for the electric starter and it caused quite a stir along with 12V electrics and auto advance distributor. The entire FL model line changed it’s name from Duo-Glide to Electra Glide to advertise the change. Not that anyone knew at the time, but it would also be the last year for the Pan Head motor, it being replaced by the Shovelhead and it’s 10% increase in HP in 1966.

The 1965 Harley Davidson FLHFB used the 73.66 CID (1207 CC) air cooled four stroke V-twin panhead motor that produced 60 HP. A 4 speed foot shifted transmission, electric start and a fully suspended frame completed the makeup of the FLHFB.
