Post Sale Update: This Bayliss sold for $20,009 on Iconic Motorbike Auctions in Santa Monica, California.
Over on the auction site we’ve got a limited edition Ducati that’s extra special because the seller is generously donating his proceeds from this sale to City Team Oakland, a nonprofit that compassionately serves the homeless and poor in need with hot meals, groceries, shelter, housing and restorative programs, learning and career help, and so much more!
Ducati sold limited-edition Bayliss replicas based on the 998S as well as the 1098R – the latter honored his 3rd and final WSBK championship with 500 examples worldwide, 150 of which came to the US. MSRP was $43,995 and it got you all the “R” goodies (carbon fiber bodywork, Marchesini wheels, Ohlins TTX suspension, and titanium connecting rods/bigger valves/higher-lift cams (good for an additional 10 horsepower) that Ducati wanted to homologate for WSBK racing, as well as the unique livery.
This example (VIN: ZDM1XBHW89B022919) is #269 and it’s equipped with the race kit ECU and carbon fiber Termignoni exhaust. It also has a sticker kit which matches Bayliss’s race bike. It has 5,301 miles and is ready to ride.
