Four Kilometers – 2000 MV Agusta F4 750

Seeing as I was just whining about the looks of MV’s newest bike and hoping that they’ll bring back the F4, it only seems fair to share an early example of the original…with just two and half miles on it, to boot!

Designed by Massimo Tamburini, the legend who brought the Ducati 916 into the world, the F4 featured the traditional red/silver scheme of MV Agustas in the past as well as a distinctive four pipe undertail exhaust. Chock full of high-end parts and pieces, the F4 features an inline four-cylinder putting out 126 hp with top end speed somewhere around 170 mph. Italian manufacturers are noted for their special editions and MV Agusta is no exception, with later editions to include the Neiman Marcus, Senna, SPR…the list goes on. The 750 eventually made 146 horsepower but was then overshadowed by the larger F4 1000 – production of the 750 series ended in 2004.

This example (VIN: ZCGF401AAYV002169) has been on display its whole life. Per the seller, “The F4 on offer here, is something of a unicorn. Through two owners in the last 22 years, the bike has never turned a wheel under its own power. Purchased by original owner, David Hall of Vienna, Virgina, and then by its subsequent owner to be enjoyed pride of place as living room art. The original battery was never connected nor did it even had water added. The bike retains original tires, all stickers remain on the windshield and the two original keys have never been separated.” It does unfortunately show signs of a drop or a bump while being moved around on the right side, but it’s highly original and it would be worth getting that fairing replaced. Listings like this make me think of the motto of Motorcycle Classics: “Ride ‘Em, Don’t Hide ‘Em.” But I suspect this one is going to stay a hider for the rest of its life…
