Getting Cheaper – 1976 Moto Guzzi T3

Here’s an interesting take on how to sell a motorcycle – make it cheaper by the day until someone has no choice but to pick it up! The 850 T3 is a cool enough bike, but I’m sharing this one mostly because I’m intrigued by the seller’s idea on how he can sell this bike. In his words, “I’m tired of trying to sell my T3 so I’m going to let it sell itself.” If the bike hasn’t sold by April 1st, he’ll knock off $25 the price each day until it goes…what do you think will be the sale price?

The “T” stands for Turismo, and the 3 signified triple disc brakes – this was designed to eat up miles. When Guzzi introduced the new brakes in 1975, they included linked brakes. If you applied the rear brake, the right front brake would also apply a small amount of pressure. It was polarizing and many people have removed this system on their Guzzis over the years. As the seller puts it, “The day the bike gets to the price you want to pay email me and your price will be locked in. I will continue to lock in pricing from other potential buyers until a buyer pays in full their locked in price.” I love this idea. This T3 has 20,800 miles and it’s in good shape for a rider. Highlights include Nikasil coating for the cylinders, powdercoating of the frame, swingarm, and battery tray, Bub exhaust, Dyna electronic ignition, and new parts all over the place. The mechanical aspects are good, but the cosmetics could use some work. The seller said they didn’t bother repainting anything because they didn’t expect to get a ROI out of it: he/she acquired the bike in October of 2014 as a winter project, and has put in over $5,500 into it.
