Post Listing Update: Despite 27 bids on eBay, this Rossi rep did not sell at $3,100.
In 2001, Honda released a limited edition of their CBR600 – it was adorned in a yellow and blue livery that paid tribute to Valentino Rossi for his first year with Honda in the top level of motorcycle racing. I have not been able to confirm exact production numbers, though they were only sold in Europe and just 100 made it to the UK. It was only supposed to be a one-year model, but then Rossi won the 2001 championship, and Honda decided to release a second version of the Rossi replica. Here’s one of the few that has made its way to the United States.
The second time around, Honda offered 2,000 examples of the bike in Europe and Australia – this probably upset owners of the first-year model who now had a vehicle that lost a bit of exclusivity. This example was legally imported and it is titled in Maryland. You should be able to transfer it to any state besides California without much of a fuss. This bike is stock except for a Hindle exhaust and a Hotbodies tail tidy. As a Euro bike, this comes with Honda’s HISS security system, gauges in Celsius and Kilometers/Hour, and a light on/off switch.
Flaws are limited to a small crack on the right hand intake duct and a paint chip on the right side from a tip over. It has 13,717 miles and an understandable amount of cosmetic blemishes for that usage. Everything is said to work and the seller says there are no leaks.
