While many readers were able to identify that this was a Matchless (and some saw that it was a twin), special congrats go to Cas Vanderwoude, as he was the first to specifically identify that this is a G9.
Built between ’48 and ’58, the G9 featured a 498cc twin and it was capable of 85 miles per hour. This is a ’51 model, the first year to get Jampot shocks and some other smaller changes like a horn button on the handlebars. In the fall of 1958, it was replaced with the G12/AJS Model 31.
If you’re feeling ambitious, you can find this G9 project for sale with an unmet opening bid of $1,000
