Yesterday, Abhi had me write up a little introduction of myself to you, the lovely readers. In that article, I revealed that I am so severely limited in imagination that if given the opportunity to choose any motorcycle in space or time, with money as no object, I would ask for a Harley-Davidson Road Glide.
That’s not a sexy answer but, as I explained, my reasoning lies in the fact there is a modicum of practicality to a bike like the Road Glide ─ in terms of use and day-to-day ownership.
Obviously, the Road Glide pictured here is not really the sort of thing I had in mind. This particular bike has taken the word “practicality,” set it on fire, urinated on it, packed it into a steel box, and thrown it into the sea.
That’s not to say I hate it. I don’t understand it, but you have to appreciate the time and energy that have gone into making this Road Glide so very much unlike a Road Glide. Exactly how much time and energy that amounts to isn’t clear. The seller says there is “too much to list” when it comes to customization details.
As far as the stuff that’s obvious, I find it interesting that the ‘hilariously large front wheel and no ground clearance’ thing is still popular in the customizing world. I don’t know what that style is called, but I remember seeing a pack of bikes like this in Daytona about a decade ago and feeling then that it was somewhat out of fashion. Clearly I was wrong.
Odds are, the engine’s been hit hard with the Screamin’ Eagle catalog but if it were stock, the bike would be powered by a 1868cc Milwaukee Eight 114 V-twin engine, producing roughly 94 horsepower and, more importantly, 113.5 lb-ft of torque.
You will probably know that the Milwaukee Eight is a surprisingly good and enjoyable powerplant. And, when it hasn’t been customized to ride an inch above the ground, the Road Glide has a chassis that allows it to be hustled through corners far more aggressively than an outside observer might guess. The seller started with an excellent platform. Whether they made good decisions after that is up to you.
With only 900 miles on the clock (the seller says they have ridden this bike only three times in the past three years), you can find this customized Road Glide for sale in Middleton, Massachusetts for $40,000 here on Facebook Marketplace.
