Here’s an exquisite racer from Uli Volkl based on a BMW R100RS. It packs a visual punch thanks to the fairing reminisicent of a Ducati 750SS and Fallert aluminum tank, as well as an actual punch thanks to 40mm Dell’Orto carbs, K&N air filter, and the hard-to-find Krauser cylinder heads.
The Krauser heads are probably the most interesting thing about this bike to me. They’re obviously quite distinctive, though they had a reputation for reliability issues which was slightly unfair. Krauser claimed these heads increased compression to 10.2:1 and bumped up horsepower to 82 at the crank. The head kit usually included a set of Mahle pistons and rings, but it’s unclear if this bike is equipped with those internals. Other features include Hoske-style silencers, a strengthened frame with a cantilever swing arm, and a stiffened front fork. Akront wheels, Tomaselli handlebars, and Wiwo disc brakes up front round out the package.
