Post-Listing Update: This Ninja was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown.
The “K” model of the ZX-7R, built between 91-92, was a homologation special built in limited numbers (500 examples) so Kawi could go racing in AMA Superbike. 142 examples were exported to the US, with an asking price that was nearly twice what Kawasaki charged for the base ZX-7R. For that extra dough you got a whole bunch of goodies, including 120 horsepower from a tweaked engine, fully adjustable suspension, close-ratio six speed transmission and a 39mm flat slide carb.
The extra power came from a higher redline (+500rpm) and higher compression, plus the bike weighed 10 pounds left. It may look rather similar to the standard J model ZX-7, but you wouldn’t want to commute on this thanks to an insanely tall first gear. In a 1992 test, Performance Bikes magazine got 110 horsepower at the rear wheel (Kawasaki claimed 120 at the crank) and hit 158.5 miles per hour – all while returning 41 average miles per gallon.
This example has 9,750 miles and is equipped with a Yoshimura silencer as well as aftermarket turn signals and mudguard. Find this Ninja for sale in San Juan Capistrano, California with bidding up to $2,650 and the reserve not yet met
If it helps with guessing the seller’s reserve, this bike is also on Craigslist for $10,000.
