Built by Ford design engineer John Hickey, this reverse trike was winner of the 2010 Vetter Challenge, a competition to see if a vehicle can hit 100mpg at 70 miles per hour into a 30 mph headwind while carrying four bags of groceries.
It’s registered in California as a motorcycle and has the rear (including drivetrain, I suspect) from a Ninja 250 and the front from a Yamaha Raptor quad. For more information, check out this link from the Vetter Competition’s site, which covers some of the other bikes that entered. Or check out this profile from EcoModder, which is solely dedicated to the HyperRocket.
Find this “Rocket Car” for sale in Gilroy, California for $11,000 here on Craigslist.
