Reader Jeff Z. sent over a tip on a motorcycle I’ve never seen before – the Honda CD200 Roadmaster. In the 80s, Honda released varying 200cc bikes all over the world: the US and Europe got the CM200 Custom, the UK also got the CD200 Benly, and some 3rd world countries got the CD200 Roadmaster.
Countries that got the Roadmaster include South Africa, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and more. The 200cc twin produced 16 horsepower – it was actually a detuned version of the 185cc engine Honda had used previously. While this resulted in less power, it yielded better gas mileage, which was a better goal for the countries this bike was sold in. You got an odd square gauge cluster, drum brakes front and rear, and a curb weight of 310 pounds.
This specific Honda CD200 Roadmaster has just 4,300 miles and is an ‘unrestored survivor’. The seller claims it was brought over from Egypt by an American ex-military officer who was on duty in the Persian Gulf War. The seller then goes on to make a humorous claim about the ‘jewel’ embedded in the side cover and how that means it was made for Egyptian royalty. If only.
Find this Honda CD200 Roadmaster for sale here on Craigslist for $8,800 in Wayne, Pennsylvania.
